Academic programs

Academic programs System

Management Information Systems (MIS) is an important specialization available in many international universities. The program enables students to study the foundations and principles of business administration, how to use information technology (computers, networks and applications) in administrative business environment and financial and governmental institutions. Students study methods of analysis and design of management information systems, how to collect and analyze data, then convert it into information and knowledge that support decision makers in their work within governmental and private organizations and institutions. MIS program is popular with students due to the availability of employment opportunities for its graduates in various fields of business administration.

The student begins studying MIS major immediately after he has successfully completed the study of four general preparation levels for the program, during which he studies:

- The basic principles of business administration provided by management science, human resources, accounting and finance courses,

- Some mathematics and statistics courses that are of great importance in providing students with basic knowledge that helps them solve business management problems.

- Different ways of writing and speaking in Arabic and English

- Courses of Islamic culture that support the values of the program

The study of MIS major lasts two years (four levels of specialization), during which the student will mainly learn:

- Components of the infrastructure of MIS, which are represented in computer programming, computer network technology, and information security methods

- Analysis and design of MIS and database management systems

- Forecasting in business and management science

- Decision support systems, knowledge management and data mining that support decision-making within the organization or institution

- Electronic transactions in line with the immaterial economy

- Strategic planning and project management

- Advanced Islamic culture courses that support the values of the program.

- Graduation Project Courses 1 & 2 that support the applied side of the program. The student completes tworelated graduation projects entailing analysing and designing an appropriate example of a management information system under the supervision of a faculty member in the department.

- Field training course, where the student does field training in one of the government departments or private companies. It is expected that the trainee looks at the workflow and tries to study the applications related to the MIS specialization used by the training agency.

Graduates of the MIS program are distributed among many governmental and private institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The waiting period for employment ranges between six months and two years, due to the high competition between graduates of similar programs. It is worth noting that some graduates of the program were employed immediately after their graduation.

Students of the program are taught by a group of distinguished faculty members who are specialists in many fields related to the areas of the program. In the same vein, some staff members from the department are on scholarship to do their graduate studies outside the Kingdom. On the other hand, the program and college management seeks to attract distinguished faculty members from inside and outside the Kingdom.
