The college’s female section, represented by the Department of Accounting’s Extracurricular Activities Committee and in collaboration with the Student Council, organized an event entitled “World Accounting Day” on Tuesday, 20/5/1447 AH.
The event aimed to highlight the importance of the accounting profession and its vital role in promoting integrity, transparency, and responsibility in business environments, as well as to raise students’ awareness of the latest developments in the field and the future career opportunities associated with it.
The program opened with a keynote speech delivered by Dr. Nasira Taher, who emphasized that accounting is not merely numbers, but rather the language of trust, responsibility, and honesty. She pointed to the impact of technological transformations and artificial intelligence in reshaping the profession, urging students to develop their technical and professional skills to keep pace with these rapid changes in the labor market.
Dr. Jihan Mohammed presented a rich lecture on the historical development of accounting, tracing its stages up to electronic accounting, and stressed that accounting is a dynamic science that evolves alongside economic and technological changes. She also highlighted the most important professional certifications offered by the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA), explaining their objectives and the career paths they enable, thereby enhancing graduates’ employment opportunities in major corporations, banks, financial institutions, and leading auditing firms.
The event also featured diverse segments presented by accounting students, who expressed pride in their specialization and spoke about the importance of accounting in building trust and achieving financial justice. Interactive competitions were held to encourage participation and strengthen teamwork and collaboration among students.
The event witnessed remarkable attendance and engagement from students and faculty members, who expressed their appreciation for the purposeful content and excellent organization, affirming the importance of such initiatives in supporting students and enabling them to keep pace with professional developments in the field of accounting.
