The Management Information Systems (MIS) major is considered one of the new and unique majors in many different international universities. It focuses on how information technology is used and applied in business administration. Its impact is evident in collecting and analyzing raw data and then transforming it into information that can be used in making the decision of the administrative establishment. The specialization in its current situation is a mixture of computer science and management science, as it depends heavily on the use of computers. Hence, the student graduating from this department will have a good knowledge of many management sciences and their concept and how to benefit from technology in its application. This makes this specialization grow so that it is independent of its own scientific bachelor program.
The student of management information systems receives many computer courses in various topics such as analysis and design of information systems, electronic business, databases, information security, and design of web pages and computer networks, in addition to administrative subjects such as accounting, finance, marketing and economics. The department also aims to provide the student with basic materials for information technology and its applications in the business environment and support systems for decision-making to be able to benefit from modern technology in companies and public institutions.
