The college’s female campus, represented by the Community Service Unit, implemented a voluntary initiative titled “Deepfake Management Systems: Opportunities and Challenges” on Sunday, 27/08/1447 AH at Al‑Hilwah Girls’ High School. The initiative was prepared and delivered by Dr. Heba Allah Ahmed Al‑Waishi, with the participation of senior students from the Management Information Systems Department. It targeted high school students with the aim of raising awareness about modern technologies and promoting digital literacy.
The initiative addressed the concept of deepfake technology, how it works, and its positive applications in education, media, and creative industries, while also highlighting its risks related to misinformation, privacy violations, and digital extortion. It further aimed to empower students to distinguish between real and AI‑generated content, enhance critical thinking and source‑verification skills, and reinforce principles of digital responsibility and cybersecurity.
Students from the MIS Department presented interactive content through three main activities:
• Identifying real vs. AI‑generated images, which saw strong engagement from participants.
• A knowledge challenge using the Digital Awareness Wheel, which strengthened students’ understanding of deepfake risks and protection methods.
• Scenario‑based decision‑making, where students proposed appropriate responses to real‑life situations involving deepfake misuse.
At the end of the event, outstanding participants were recognized and awarded, and awareness materials were distributed to support safe digital practices. Dr. Heba Allah Al‑Waishi expressed her gratitude to the administration and staff of Al‑Hilwah High School, led by Ms. Fatimah Ibrahim Al‑Suwaylih, for their warm reception and supportive engagement, which contributed significantly to the success of the initiative.
The initiative reflected the vital role of the College of Business Administration in serving the community and promoting digital awareness. It also showcased the sense of responsibility demonstrated by the participating MIS students, who presented an exemplary model of volunteerism and knowledge sharing. These efforts align with the college’s mission to prepare digitally aware national talents capable of engaging with emerging technologies responsibly and contributing to a secure and informed digital society.
