The Students Advisory Council
The Students Advisory Council is the university's platform that enhances student participation and spreads the spirit of belonging to the college and the university among them, by building channels of communication between students and the academic and administrative staff. The student council further enhances dialogue and leadership skills, promotes teamwork spirit, and strengthens the sense of patriotism among students.
Student Advisory Council Objectives:
- Spreading Islamic and moral values among students, and enhancing sense of belonging to their homeland.
- Representing students’ point of view in all matters related to the educational process.
- Reporting students’ needs and demands honestly and objectively to the competent authorities.
- Activating dialogue and participation channels, and supporting communication between students and the academic & administrative staff.
- Discovering students' talents, refining their leadership and dialogue skills, and developing their creativity.
- Creating an interactive environment in the intellectual, social, sports and artistic fields within the university through various competitions and events.
Requirements of Nomination:
Students are nominated for membership of student councils after filling out the membership form approved by the Supreme Committee of Student Councils, and fulfilling following requirements:
1- A Candidate for Student Councils should be recognized for his integrity and interest in serving the issues of fellow students.
2- A candidate should be a regular student at the university, with a GPA not less than 2.75 out of 5.
3- A candidate's record should be free of academic warnings and disciplinary penalties.
4- A candidate must have spent at least two semesters at the university or college.
5- A candidate should not be a student expected to graduate.
6-A candidate must obtain the signature of at least ten students to stand for the student council elections.
7- The student electoral roll must obtain the signature of at least twenty students to run for the student council elections.
8- The student council subcommittee in the college may approve or reject candidacy application.
9- Candidacy application for membership of the Student Council shall be through collective submission of students through the electoral roll, or through the individual application of the student.
10- the number of students in the electoral list should be five members, provided that the list includes students from different educational levels, and that all of them fulfill the aforementioned Candidacy requirements.
Rights of the Candidate:
- A student has the right of membership in student councils for three consecutive election cycles, or four non-consecutive cycles, during the course of his studies in college.
2- A candidate can conduct a presentation for his electoral program, which includes an introductory lecture, or a debate with another competitor, in accordance with the terms and conditions stated in the regulations.
3- The candidate has the right to contest the election results before the Elections Commission.
4- A candidate has the right to appeal against the decision of rejecting his candidacy application by the elections subcommittee before the Supreme Committee of Electoral Councils.
Candidate Code of Ethics:
1-A candidate for student council must respect the rules and regulations in force at the university.
2- The candidate should refrain from anything that hinders the election process of the student council.
3- The candidate should refrain from using tribal or religious slogans in his campaign.
4- The subcommittees in the college have the right to cancel the candidacy of violating students and referring them to the Higher Student Councils Committee for punishment.
5- A candidate shouldn’t detract from rival candidates.
6-A candidate should bear in mind that nomination is an assignment, not an honor.
