As part of the cooperation between Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University and specialized community institutions, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Dr. Maliha Al-Qahtani, the college, represented by the Student Activities Unit in collaboration with the Department of Management Information Systems, organized a field visit to the leading telecommunications and networking technology company stc under the supervision of Dr. Hibat Allah Al-Weshi on Tuesday, 17th of Jumada Al-Awwal.
The visit aimed to enhance the understanding of MIS students regarding the theoretical aspects of network models, types of devices, and wired and wireless data transmission methods, as well as to identify the security issues that practical applications might face.
The visit started at the main center for communications and network operations management, where the students received a detailed explanation of the components of the giant Dashboard, which is automatically updated every 5 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, covering the entire Kingdom and providing electronic services to stc customers inside and outside the Kingdom. The explanation also covered management, monitoring, and proactive response to cyber threats and breaches, ensuring increased productivity for business organizations.
The students then moved to the meeting room, where a documentary film on the latest telecommunications and networking technologies provided by stc was shown. This was followed by a visit to the Progress Museum, which showcases models of the historical development of communication devices in the Kingdom, and allowed the students to design virtual avatars and interact with many innovative technologies employed using AI, IoT, cloud computing, home entertainment, and electronic games.
The visit concluded at the stc store, where the students explored various distinctive mobile devices and accessories, receiving some souvenirs.
The visit was well received by the students and warmly welcomed by stc, which appreciated the efforts of Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University represented by the College of Business Administration in Hotat Bani Tamim, and expressed enthusiasm for continued cooperation in future visits, serving as an incentive for students and clarifying the vision for their future roles as professionals in specialized institutions.
